Julie and her husband,
together with diminutive Isabella, purchased
a beautiful red brick Manor House, beside
the river. It stands in 20
acres of flower-filled meadows, with
historic fish ponds and ancient trees.
Julie called in
NewLandOwner,
to advise on the management of this land,
the ownership of which was an exciting new
experience for them.
'Whatever were they to do
with it all?'
As usual,
NewLandOwner's
aim was to design a management plan which
achieved their aims, whilst providing
maximum enjoyment for the whole family.
The first task was to
discover their aims and aspirations,
together with their interests and
capabilities.
The second task was to
evaluate the land and
it's potential to meet the owner's
requirements.
The third was to put the
first two together into a
personalized management plan, which they
could easily
understand and operate.
On this occasion we also
managed to find some grant aid for
environmental restoration and conservation
of the historic grounds.
Julie surprised herself by
quickly developing an interest in farm
livestock and soon acquired a menagerie of
poultry, including Chinese geese, Runner
ducks and several varieties of Rare breed
hens. Isabella loved them all and took a
great
interest in everything about them.
Julie's interest developed to
the level of joining us at The Royal Show at
Stoneleigh, to select which Rare breed of
sheep to purchase. Having found the
appropriate animals on a smallholding in the
Welsh borders, NewLandOwner
transported them home for
her, much to her trepidation and Isabella's
delight.
We could never have
anticipated the apprehension, which turned
quickly to pleasure and excitement, upon
their arrival, not just in their household,
but in the neighbourhood too!
That delivery remains to this
day, one of the most satisfying tasks we
have had the pleasure of completing.
